Send Nudes: My top 6 nude lipsticks

A few years ago, I was one of those poeple who just didn't see the point in a nude lipstick. My mindset was if it didn't have bold colour, then why bother?

Fast forward a few years on, and I now find myself reaching for a different nude lipstick to wear everyday, and it is safe to say I am a little obsessed, be it very late to the party.

Whilst I think it is very easy to look at a nude lipstick and say that is either a pinky nude or that is a browner nude, I have found some great nudes that cater to all tastes. I thought I would show you my top nudes that I have been wearing recently.

(From Left to Right)
Back Talk, Brave, Naked, Alessandra, Velvet Teddy, Fleur De Force

Back Talk
First on the list is 'Back Talk' from Urban Decay. This is probably the pinkiest shade I have in my collection and is from Urban Decay's Comfort Matte collection. As the description would suggest, this is a very wearable formula as it doesn't feel dry and chalky like some matte lipsticks can. I have spoken about this lipstick before and I love it as an intense dusty pink colour and it is really pretty. I especially love it in the winter as I think the deeper tones work well with Autumnal and Winter clothing colours.

Brave
As you can see from the picture I have worn down this lipstick! 'Brave' from MAC was actually my first ever nude lipstick which is why it has been well used. I bought this as I looked up Kylie Jenner lip look dupes back in the day where she was still pretending her pout was all good lip lining.  Although Velvet Teddy was the named shade she used, Brave was recommended for those with fairer complexions so I grabbed it and I absolutely love it.
(For my post on Kylie Jenner lips click here)

Naked
'Naked' from Urban Decay is the newest addition to my nude collection. I kept seeing posts on Instagram of this beautiful Urban Decay lipstick and everytime I enquired as to what shade it was, the answer was always this one. The fact I kept stumbling across it and asking about it meant I obviously really liked it so I bought it on my last pay day and I love it so much! It is a perfect peachy shade and it is really pretty. It is from the cream collection of lipsticks and is so comfortable and easy to wear. An absolute must have for summer.

Alessandra
'Alessandra' from MAC is a colloabortaion with Glamour magazine's very own beauty editor Alessandra Steinherr. This was released with the Fleur De Force collaboration (also featuring in this post) so if you want to read about them a bit more in depth then go to my post I did solely on them here. This is another pinky toned lipstick but the coverage is very sheer so just adds a hint of colour. If someone isn't confident wearing lipsticks this would be a perfect starter.

Velvet Teddy
I mentioned above about Kylie Jenne's signature lipstick she wore back in the day before her own lip kits. This shade was of course 'Velvet Teddy' by MAC. Due to this, Velvet Teddy is probably one of MAC's best selling lipsticks and they even brought out the fragrance to go with this iconic shade. Not wanting to be a sheep and follow the crowd, I have resisted buying this for a long time, however I went into MAC to have my makeup done for a wedding and I wanted a browner toned lipstick and the makeup artist put this on me unknowing of the shade. I absolutely loved it and when she revealed what she had used, I knew that it had its famous reputation for a reason so snapped it up. This is from the matte range so isn't the comfiest lipstick to wear, however I find it lasts all day and doesn't need reapplication.

Fleur De Force
So the other release of the MAC X Infulencers is blogger and Vlogger Fleur Westaways lipstick. 'Fleur De Force' by MAC is probably the brownest shade I could go for a natural looking lip due to being quite fair. This lipstick is a cream sheen formula so again the pigment hasn't got a huge impact but it adds a wash of bronze to the lip. I wore this a lot when I was in Marbella and I had a bit of a tan and it looked dreamy.

I would love your go to Nudes! Let me know in the comments!

December 2017 Favourites

First off, welcome to my first post of 2018! We are nearly half way through January 2018 and that is just mad to me!
Whilst I have lots of fun new and exciting posts coming up and things I want to try, I can't neglect the wonderful little happenings that were my December favourites.
I will probably do a little post on some of the bits I got for Christmas too, so if you thought the festivities were over in January hop over here to relive the Christmas time.

Probably my most favourite item of December was my Ciate Advent Calender, £50, ciatelondon.com which my generous mum got for me! My youngest sister, Tanya Burr superfan Sophia got Tanya's 12 Sweet Days Beauty Calendar, £20, Boots and my vegan sister Charlotte was treated to the Lush 12 Days of Christmas, £67.50, Lush calendar. Although these differ in price, can I just say that these calendars suited each of us down to a tee so the fact she spent more on one of us than the other doesn't mean anything as we were all so chuffed, although as the clear middle favourite I'm just happy not to be last. I'M JOKING.

My 24 day calendar included 21 STUNNING nail colours, a nail treatment, gel top coat and a sparkly nail file. I will do a full post on this advent calendar complete with swatches of each colour because I can only do it it's full justice in one dedicated post which I will link back in this post so keep an eye out for that!

My next favourite item was the Beauty Pie Pro-Glow Superstrobing Drops, £4.18 (members price), beautypie.com. These drops give the perfect dewy highlight that made me feel like a Christmas angel.

These drops are 100% my favourite highlighting product I have ever used. They completely transform my complexion and make my skin look flawless. If I could hazard a guess, I'd say they were created in the same factory as the famous Custom Cover Drops by Cover FX which come in at £34.00. If you don't know about Beauty Pie or why I have written that previous sentence or why I have written "membership price", then go to this post where I explain how Beauty Pie works and why it is so amazing!

Another Beauty Pie product I have been loving in December is the Great Skin Foundation, £6.02 (membership price), beautypie.com which I didn't get on too well with at first. I don't know whether my skin was just not its best when I first tried this but recently I have been using this as my everyday foundation and I have really loved the final look! The coverage isn't full, but it covers just about every blemish I need too with feeling heavy and evens my skin tone.

In my previous post I talked about how much I love a lip kit that comes with the matching liner and this MAC Duo, £29.50, maccosmetics.co.uk was the perfect kit for the December time.

With the matte colour 'Diva' and liner 'Burgandy', this was a winning berry lip colour for me throughout December. I was recommended this colour when I had my makeup done at MAC Fenwick Tunbridge Wells ahead of the Royal Variety show, and I am so glad I purchased this as it has been so perfect for the Christmas time of year.

At the end of the day when removing all my makeup, my favourite cleanser has been the Sumptuous Camomile Cleansing Butter, £10, The Body Shop. This balm cleanser is so gentle on skin, and really soothed my eyelids when they flared up in December. They were really dry and itchy but the calming chamomile in this cleanser put them back to normal within a few day.s, and it removes every scrap of makeup.

For a pamper session, I loved this Snowfairy Jelly Bomb, £4.95, Lush which I believe they are not stocking anymore as it is a Christmas exclusive, but I was given this at a bloggers event and waited for the perfect evening to indulge, and it was a much better experience than the one I had with the dark arts jelly bomb which you can read about here. The jello bombs leave a thick jelly like layer on the top of the bath moisturising the skin, and generally giving you a fun old bath time. Snow Fairy is a very sweet, very girly collection and it left my bath bright pink.

I also really loved the Naked Lip Scrub, £5.95, Lush as my lips get very dry in the winter and lipstick doesn't go on very well to dry chapped lips, especially matte formulas such as the Diva lipstick mentioned above. I much prefer the new Lush lip scrub formula of it being in a solid balm as I found the sugar in the pots went everywhere and tended to waste a lot of product. These balms allow you to apply directly onto the lip so moisturises as it goes without being too abbrasive and it also saves on packaging which is good for the environment. Yey!

Thanks for reading my December favourites, and as always if there are any products you loved this past month that you think I should try please do suggest them! Be sure to come back and read my new exciting posts coming soon!

MAC Makeup Trip

Earlier in the Summer, one of best friends got married and as it was going to be a beautiful day, my friend and I decided we would go and get our makeup professionally done at MAC to spoil ourselves and take the stress out of getting ready that day.

I went to MAC in Fenwick Tunbridge Wells, and had my makeup done by Rhiannon and I was really impressed with what she did for me.

As my dress was a dusty pink colour, I wanted bronze-y makeup with a nude lip and I think she nailed it!

The great thing about MAC, is that you can have your makeup done and the payment is redeemable against products after your makeover.

The products I decided to invest in after were the foundation used on me that day, as well as the lipstick and then as I had lashes applied I had to buy those too. I kind of wish I went with the highlight she used on me as well because it was beautiful! I was also lucky enough to have been there at a good time as they were giving away a free lipstick with any makeup appointments so I nabbed one of those too!

I got the 34 Lashes, £11.50 which are graduated in length to give a longer lash at the outer eye which worked well with my winged eyeliner. As a non false lash wearer, these felt really dramatic at first but by the end of the day I loved them and they were so comfortable. I was so sad when I had to take them off.

I also decided to purchase the foundation Rhiannon used on me, as I have been looking for quite a full coverage foundation for those awful skin days I get! I liked this one as it had a satin finish and also had an SPF 15 which I like in a foundation. It was just as well I had an SPF on the day of the wedding as it got really sunny and I burnt my chest in the ceremony! Face was all good though.
I have the shade NC20 in the Studio Sculpt Foundation, £27.00

I also purchased the lipstick I wore on the day of the wedding which was Velvet Teddy, £16.50. I have gushed about this lipstick enough on my my top five nude lipsticks post which you can read here, but as the title of the post suggests, I am a big fan of this colour!

Finally, was the free lipstick I received which is this beautiful colour called Eros from the liptensity range. It is a fantastic fuchsia and is really long wearing and comfortable wear so I was really happy with this added bonus.

What are your favourite MAC essentials?

My Favourite Summer Lipsticks

Lipstick has recently become my favourite beauty statement maker only in the last few years, and this time of year you can get away with a really bright lip, or a sultry dark lip. Summer is also a really good time to experiment with colour, so this post will be about my favourite lipsticks that I am wearing this season.

'True Coral' by Tom Ford

I cannot afford Tom Ford but I got this little sample size lipstick in 'True Coral' which I have had for a while. It is a really strong colour so you don't need much of it and it is a really pretty coral.

Lancome Colours

The colour below is called 'Rose Sortilege' by Lancome, but is actually discontinued now. This is a deep berry colour that can be built up.

Luckily they have brought out a new colour that is pretty much a perfect match and is from the Rouge in Love range. I don't know the name of the colour but its number is 379N.

Pictured below is me wearing this colour at wireless festival a few Years ago. The picture doesn't show up the colour fantastically, but you can definitely see it is a darker colour to what I usually go for.

'Relentlessly Red' by Mac

This is THE BEST COLOUR EVER. It is the perfect festival lipstick as the colour is so bright and it lasts all stay. No matter how much beer or cider you drink, it will stay put. This is a matte finish lipstick by Mac so it does tend to dry the lips out. I find another coat of this soothes the dryness but don't go over board or you get a bobbly finish. Ideally it is not the best texture but the colour is so insane I can't fault it.

This lipstick looks so much better in real life as you can see the neon-y finish much clearer, but here I am sporting this lipstick at BST festival. I also wore it all of Glastonbury and it is constantly in my handbag.

'Mightiest Maraschino' Chubby Stick by Clinique

I have blogged about this Chubby Stick before but it is another of my staple red lip colours so it has to go on my list. I am fair skinned so I should go for bluer toned reds to compliment my skin. I certainly do not obey that rule as I will buy any red lipstick I like the look of, but this one definitely suits my skin tone as it is more cool. As it is an extreme chubby the pigment is much stronger than the usual sheer chubbys.

Laqa & Co Lip Lube

This is what I meant above when I was saying experiment with colour. I would never have thought I would be the sort of girl to rock a purple lipstick, but lo and behold I have and I absolutely love it as well. This Lip Lube got in my Birchbox was the perfect push to get me to try out a bold lip colour, and since getting it, I have gone out and purchased a few purple toned colours.

I find this lip colour looks best with really soft pink eye makeup, so you haven't got a 'gothy' look about you.

Have you got any summer must have lipsticks?

Mac Lipstick X Infulencers

I am always a bit of a sucker for a Mac collaboration, and this infulencer collab wasn't going to be one I was going to miss!
The two incredible women Mac collaborated with are blogger and YouTuber Fleur de Force, and Glamour's very own beauty director Alessandra Steinherr.
These two women are absolutely bossing the beauty world at the moment, so who better to have their very own lipstick??

Whilst I never used to be a nude lipstick lover, recently it it the only thing I'm wearing.
The Fleur and Alessandra lipsticks are both nude shades, Fleur's being a browner nude, and Alessandra's a pinkier shade.

Alessandra

Alessandra has turned the role of journalist, to celebrity. Whilst you never used to see the face behind the story, social media has allowed us to meet journalists and hear what they really think. Alex's Instagram is my go to when ever I want to see the newest products before they hit the shelves, and her insta-stories of facial routine are informative and enchanting.

Alessandra's lipstick is the staple beauty editor nude.

Fleur

Like many bloggers and vloggers, Fleur has had her fair share of success. With a published book of her makeup tips and tricks, 'The Glam Guide', and her own range of Eyelure lashes, Fleur is one of the most recognised bloggers in the world. She attracts up to 4-6 million views a month, and this is constantly growing.

Fleur's shade is the perfect bronzey nude for summer.

So those are the swatches of each lipstick so you can choose your favourite...or like me, just get both! (they are both £16.50 each in case you do). I thought I would favour the Alessandra lipstick due to my fair complexion, but I have actually found myself reaching for Fleur's more tan colour. Both are really creamy with a shiny finish, and I love wearing them.

If this doesn't scream girl power, and the hope of achieving the unimaginable from behind a computer screen, then I don't know what does!
