My Favourite Summer Lipsticks

Lipstick has recently become my favourite beauty statement maker only in the last few years, and this time of year you can get away with a really bright lip, or a sultry dark lip. Summer is also a really good time to experiment with colour, so this post will be about my favourite lipsticks that I am wearing this season.

'True Coral' by Tom Ford

I cannot afford Tom Ford but I got this little sample size lipstick in 'True Coral' which I have had for a while. It is a really strong colour so you don't need much of it and it is a really pretty coral.

Lancome Colours

The colour below is called 'Rose Sortilege' by Lancome, but is actually discontinued now. This is a deep berry colour that can be built up.

Luckily they have brought out a new colour that is pretty much a perfect match and is from the Rouge in Love range. I don't know the name of the colour but its number is 379N.

Pictured below is me wearing this colour at wireless festival a few Years ago. The picture doesn't show up the colour fantastically, but you can definitely see it is a darker colour to what I usually go for.

'Relentlessly Red' by Mac

This is THE BEST COLOUR EVER. It is the perfect festival lipstick as the colour is so bright and it lasts all stay. No matter how much beer or cider you drink, it will stay put. This is a matte finish lipstick by Mac so it does tend to dry the lips out. I find another coat of this soothes the dryness but don't go over board or you get a bobbly finish. Ideally it is not the best texture but the colour is so insane I can't fault it.

This lipstick looks so much better in real life as you can see the neon-y finish much clearer, but here I am sporting this lipstick at BST festival. I also wore it all of Glastonbury and it is constantly in my handbag.

'Mightiest Maraschino' Chubby Stick by Clinique

I have blogged about this Chubby Stick before but it is another of my staple red lip colours so it has to go on my list. I am fair skinned so I should go for bluer toned reds to compliment my skin. I certainly do not obey that rule as I will buy any red lipstick I like the look of, but this one definitely suits my skin tone as it is more cool. As it is an extreme chubby the pigment is much stronger than the usual sheer chubbys.

Laqa & Co Lip Lube

This is what I meant above when I was saying experiment with colour. I would never have thought I would be the sort of girl to rock a purple lipstick, but lo and behold I have and I absolutely love it as well. This Lip Lube got in my Birchbox was the perfect push to get me to try out a bold lip colour, and since getting it, I have gone out and purchased a few purple toned colours.

I find this lip colour looks best with really soft pink eye makeup, so you haven't got a 'gothy' look about you.

Have you got any summer must have lipsticks?

Grandiose Eye Liner

Hi all! Today I am reviewing the new Lancome Grandiose eye liner that launched a few weeks ago.
If you have read my blog, you may have seen that the Grandiose mascara blew my mind and jumped straight to my number one mascara beating Benefit's 'They're Real' and the 'Chanel volumizing mascara. You can read a review of that here: Lancome Grandiose Mascara

What makes the Grandiose mascara so individual is the swan neck wand, which is a theme they have continued to the eye liner.
The ball point handle means you can have it straight or create angles with the brush making it SO easy to apply. If you have trouble with eye liner, or maybe you just want an easy alternative, then this product is perfect for you.

Clicking the wand into different angles means getting a continous line into the inner corner of the eye  is a breeze.

It is also a great angle to go as a guide line for the outer cat flick

The reason I commited and bought this liner was because I tried the new three shades on my hand and they lasted all day even after washing my hands and going about my day. The eye liner comes in the classic black, a beautiful brown and a stunning blue.
It is also worth mentioning that the launch of this liner comes with a new edition of the mascara, the Grandiose extreme, which I will realistically be buying very soon as well, as it is longer lasting, even blacker than the original mascara, and promises to give even more oomph. Along with that, there is also a new eyebrow mascara which comes in 3 shades from blonde to brown, and also a clear gel for the fair haired or if you prefer no colour.

I absolutely love this product. My only flaw would be that I find the formula slightly dry, so I keep having to dip into the pot a lot to charge up the wand when applying, but I think that dry formula is what makes it stay longer compared to a wetter liquid eye liner.

This eyeliner retails at £23.00 at all Lancome suppliers.

Lancome Grandiose Mascara

It is very rare that I find a mascara that actually makes a difference to my lashes. My eye lashes are really rubbish and I find a lot of mascaras tend to just make my eyelashes darker and therefore show up more, but there are only a very select few that do make a real difference to them. In the past, the only two that I remeber as standing out to me, are the Chanel volumizing mascara that I reviewed a while ago, and the Benefit 'They're Real', however I do find that slightly uncomfortable to wear.

I have now found one that could beat these two, and it is the newly launched  Lancome Grandiose mascara. As soon as I tried it on, I knew I had to have it! The actual bottle itself is really pretty, and it has a very thick bottom to make room for its interesting shaped wand.

The wand is described as a 'swan neck' shape, and is designed so you can perfectly angle each individual lash.

It perfectly coats each lash from root to tip, and gives length and volume. It coats each individual lash to create a wide eyed look, without being spidery and gives a fanned out finish.

To apply you start at the root and zig zag to the tip of the lash. The swan neck applicator means you can really get in there to create layer upon layer.

Its such an exciting new launch, and I went out and bought one yesterday and have not regretted it at all.

This mascara retails at £24.00, which I think is a really good price for a high end mascara that delivers so well. This is definitely my new number 1 mascara, and I think it will be hard to beat.
