October Glossy Box

Once again I have allowed the dreaded back log of Glossy box reviews to happen! I am finding that I have so many products to try, that I don't fully use a product and then find it hard to review the products as I haven't had much experience of using it! This October Glossy Box for me was fairly average. The theme being a sort of 'gothic' feel as way back then we were getting into Autumn.

Harmony Smoothie Serum

I haven't really used this serum much which is probably not a good sign. I find it doesn't really absorb into my skin very well unlike other serums I have tried so I kind of gave up with it after a while. A short review but my patience with it was just as short!

Katy Perry Killer Queen Fragrance

Once again, we have the awkward moment where I try and attempt to explain a smell. Thankfully the little sample came with a list of the ingredients and also explained the top, middle and base notes so my life was made easier. It is quite a sweet fragrance to start as you can see from the mixed fruit top notes, but it is quite a sensual fragrance too.

MeMeMe Cherub's Blush

This product is very similar to Benefit's benetint product. I want to love this product, but can someone tell me how on earth you use it?? I put it straight on to my cheeks for a bit of blush, and I looked like I had been slapped, as the area was too concentrated and the product is not good at blending, can anyone shed light on the proper way to do it? As for use on the lips, I found it a bit messy and the colour didn't last too long.

Monu Illuminating Primer

I really like the idea of a primer with an SPF, as it is killing two birds with one stone, especially one that will illuminate the skin and add radiance. However this product didn't really absorb into my skin. When I put my foundation over the top it went kind of ball-y and it was not good for blending. I have some other products from Monu though which I am getting on with, so its just unfortunate I do not like this product.

Vita Liberata Instant Tan

I am not a huge lover a fake tan and this product was the reason I have not reviewed this box. I don't really wear tan, so I was waiting for a day I could try it on without the worry of going out looking tangoed. I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of this tan though. The colour was really natural and golden, and added a really nice finish to my skin, even though it was just slightly shimmered (I don't like shimmer but this is really not a noticable shimmer). I would highly recommend this product, and since using it I have gone out and bought the actual tan as I had some Boots vouchers for it, which is quite a big deal for me as I don't wear tan. I will review that product in the not too distant future, but this sachet was the saving grace of the box for me!

Floral Nail Art

A long time ago back in Febuary, I went to the Beauty Show in Excel Centre, London. Whilst there I purchased a 'Mo You' stamper set which I have not used enough! I decided to have a little practice the other day and think I'm slowly improving. I always feel like I'm slightly cheating when I use a stamper set, but actually they're quite professional, and create really neat detailed nail art. I chose quite a dainty floral pattern and used my MeMeMe polish in 'Pensive' which I got in my Glossybox and reviewed the other day. For the blue flower detailing, I used Nails Inc 'Baker Street' which is a really striking, cool colour. I still need a lot of practice but I will definitely persevere! This print came out a little patchy, but I quite like how it makes the delicate flower pattern look antique and vintage.

June Glossy Box

Organic Surge Conditioner
Since working on a predominantly natural beauty department, I have become more in the know about some of the ingredients that are put into our skin and hair care that shock me! I'm starting to sound like a bit of a hippy, but a lot of things we take for granted in high street brands are actually really harmful to us, and I've been making more of an effort to avoid these products. Things such as engine oils and the like go into our hair products, which you would never dream of putting on your head otherwise. Working near brands like Aveda and Liz Earle have made me more interested in natural haircare, so I was so happy when I got my Organic Surge natural conditioner, as it stears clear from all the nasty things that are put into our haircare. I had never heard of the brand and I love this conditioner, and will definitely be buying the matching shampoo and a new conditioner when I finish. It smells of grapefruit and makes your hair feels really clean and detangled. Really happy with this product, especially as it was a full size!

MonuSpa Hand cream
I don't tend to use handcream in the summer but this one is nice and lightweight and very citrusy smelling. I personally find the smell a little bit too overpowering, but it sinks into the skin quickly so you can get on with your day. It is also good for nails and cuticles and a nice size to tuck into your handbag.

Figs & Rouge Lip Balm
I wouldn't strictly call this a lip balm as the consistancy and look of it is more like a lip gloss. I don't usually like the feel of gloss on the lips as I find it too sticky but this one does not feel sticky and leaves a healthy shine to the lips. This is another product that is 100% natural and I love that!

Gosh Growth Mascara
Gosh is a brand I saw in Superdrug a few years back and thought it looked like a good makeup brand. I had never tried it up until now and I must say I was very impressed. This growth mascara feels really nice on the ashes and makes them look long and thick but not clumpy. It also has a growth formula in it so your lashes will grow longer and look thicker when your wearing it. Pretty impressive stuff.

MeMeMe Nail Polish
Finally we have my MeMeMe nail polish called 'Pensive'. At first I thought it was a standard pastel green colour, fit for summer. This polish is actually quite a striking and explainable colour when its on the nails. Its kind of pastel green/ baby blue/ aqua. Whatever it is, I love it, and have had many compliments whilst wearing it! These polishes are usually £5.00 so fairly highstreet.

February Glossy Box

I heard lots of people talking about 'Glossy box' so I decided to invest and applied for a monthly delivery of Glossy Boxes! If your interested in getting glossy boxes, follow this link http://www.glossybox.co.uk/referal?CI=MTEwMDU3 This is the first one I received and I was very happy! This is the Valetine's day edition, and here is how I got on.

1. Fat Cat Mascara
First impressions really do count. I really like the packaging to this Me Me Me mascara so I already decided I wanted to like this! (excuse the picture, it has been in my makeup bag which always seems to give everything a foundation-y layer)

Unfortunately I was not overwhelmed with the actual purpose of the mascara! I usually use Benefit's 'They're Real' mascara which is fantastic. I like mascaras that dry quite hard and actually feel like their doing something. The Fat Cat mascara is jet black and has a really strong colour, but I found it didn't give my eye lashes much of a curl and left them quite straight. I do really want to like this mascara so will persevere, but I will only use it in the week when I don't want such a dramatic lash.

2. Helen E Lipstick

My lipstick is a shade called 'Caribbean' and I really like it! I quite like red and pink lipsticks, so this was right up my street! This lipstick is quite moisturising and doesn't dry out your lips. It also stays quite glossy so you can rub your lips together without worrying about it coming of! The staying power isn't fantastic, about 4-5 hours, but I do like my little lipstick!

3. MicaBella Mineral Blush

I am a bit gutted about this one! When you apply for your glossy box, you put in your skin type etc, and I think I thought I was latino that day because I put my skin tone darker than I should have. Therefore this shade of 'Terra Cotta' doesn't look very nice on my skin. I really want to try mineral makeup though as it is free of parabens and nasty things that age your skin, so it is somthing I want to look into more!

4. Narciso Rodriguez Perfume

This perfume is really fresh and light. I really like the smell and would recommend it for summer, but it also has a sophisticated scent which could be worn to an interview for a crisp, clean smell. Reviewing perfume is actually a lot harder than I thought!

6. Voulez Vous Body Oil

I was unsure of what this was at first as it was in French and just said 'body oil'. After a bit of research, I realised it is actually a sex oil made by a company in Paris, and is flavoured like Margarita cocktails. I would review this one, but it's just NOT THAT TYPE OF BLOG!
